My friends were planning to go to Funtastic Island, but it got canceled. BUT… my team ended up planning our team building there, so it was still worth the cancellation LOL! Funtastic Island is located in Gibitngil Island, Medellin, and the way to get there is by renting a boat from Medellin and crossing the sea.
We stayed at Seahorse Resort in Medellin, and I honestly have no idea how much the room rates are since they were the ones who planned and reserved everything. The photos below show where the rooms are located.
How to get there?
To get there, go to the North Bus Terminal in Mandaue and just tell the conductor that you’re heading to Medellin. They’ll gladly suggest which bus to take.
We arrived at 9 AM, and the resort was quite far from the highway. It was my first time in Medellin, so I wasn’t very familiar with the place. We had lunch, then headed off to Gibitngil Island at 1 PM, which is just across from where we were staying. We had a few drinks before going to the island.
Below is the boat we rented for the island trip. You can rent one for 1,500 pesos if you have good haggling skills haha!
It took us more or less 30 minutes to get there, and the current was quite strong even though it was summer.

When we arrived, there were no cottages available and it was really crowded. So we rented one a bit farther from the main area, and it turned out to be a good choice since it only cost 100 pesos.
We then went to the 30-foot cliff diving area, but it was too shallow, so we decided to go for the 25-foot spot instead. Miss Joan jumped first, then I followed. It was really scary at first since it was my first time, but I told myself I could do it!

I didn’t get a decent shot when I jumped 🙁 so the splash in the left photo is the only proof that I actually did it. Anyway, look how clear the water is!
After everyone jumped off the cliff, we went kayaking.

At 5 PM, the boat we rented came back to fetch us. They also gave us a quick tour around the island. Here are a few shots… it’s truly a fantastic place.
We stayed overnight at the resort and had a few drinks. The next day, we headed home at 10 AM. The photos below are of the team before leaving.
