Yes, you read it right! Finally, I traveled solo for the very first time after canceling the Camiguin and El Nido! The original plan was Zambales-Pangasinan and since boat rentals are expensive especially if you’re alone then naaaah. When I started traveling, I always preferred DIY (do-it-yourself) trips rather than packages. Why? Simply because I wanted to manage my own time and explore places on my own. So when I decided to take an Ilocandia tour last year, it made me think about whether I should get a package and just follow the itinerary they would provide. Since the Ilocos Region is very far and it would be my first trip traveling by land, I almost booked us with one of those travel agencies on Facebook. Recently, Vigan was declared as one of the 7 Wonder Cities of the World. The city, which is the capital of Ilocos Sur, is well preserved to show the Spanish architecture as of the present time. Everyone wants to go to Vigan to stroll around Calle Crisologo and to taste their very own longganisa, bagnet and empanadas. Although we have a kalesa ride in Cebu and even in Dumaguete, nothing will beat it if it’s in the street of Vigan. Aside from that, the city is also well known for its antique shops.
La Union (Elyu or L.U.) is a province in the Philippines located in the Ilocos Region. It is known as the surfing capital of the North, and surfing in San Juan, La Union is widely popular among surfers today. It’s said that San Juan was just an ordinary seashore until it was discovered that the waves there are good for surfing.
