Rancho Cancio

Every team in a company needs a break and some relaxation once in a while. For us, Team Steno, we had our team building at Rancho Cancio in Adlaon Farm, Busay, Lahug City. Located in Cebu City and about a one-hour ride from JY Square, Rancho Cancio is a private rest house that offers a perfect view of parts of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, and even Bohol.

Even though Rancho Cancio is already open to the public, you still need to contact the owner ahead of time for a reservation. We didnā€™t even expect to book the place since itā€™s usually fully booked. The minimum number of guests is 10, while the maximum is 22. For 650 pesos per head, you can already enjoy the scenery and beauty of the place.

How to get there?

As mentioned above, if youā€™re coming from JY Square, youā€™ll reach the place in more or less an hour. Itā€™s quite far from the highway, so itā€™s better to bring your own private vehicle.

The Place

It was very cold when we got there since itā€™s located at the top of the mountain. It was even raining when we arrived, so we had to wear jackets during the day. Staying there overnight as a group requires you to order two meals. In our case, we ordered lunch and dinner. You also need to choose from their menu ahead of time so they can prepare the food properly. They serve not only Filipino dishes but also international cuisine, ranging from 150 to 250 pesos per meal.

For billiard enthusiast, they also have it, which is located underground, and I think there’s a fee for it per hour.

For 800 pesos, you can already rent the karaoke for a 24-hour stay. And of course, no outing is complete without some drinks, right? So here we are.

Some of our teammates were already asleep by this time, and only a few of us (including me) stayed up until 11 PM. There was also some paranormal activity while we were getting ready to sleep, but Iā€™d rather leave that as a mystery for you (yes, you, the one reading this ). One thingā€™s for sure… it still gives me goosebumps!

The next day, we continued drinking the leftover Tanduay while chilling in the pool like a boss.

    PART 1:

    MY FRIEND POSTED THIS REVIEW IN FACEBOOK BUT WE WOULD LIKE ALL THE PEOPLE TO KNOW THE EXPERIENCE WE HAD NOT LIMITED IN FACEBOOK ONLY.

    So me and 2 of my friends decided to celebrate our birthday with 16 other people at Rancho Cancio which is located in Adlaon, Cebu City. We started the afternoon with a cozy dip in the pool. The place was amazing, the scenery and the house itself is so pretty so everyone took turns in taking pictures and posted them online. It was a long night and we’ve had so much fun. We decided to pay for corkage kay lagi mag luto mi. Services offered were the dorm beds for Php 700, Breakfast meal for Php 180 and the corkage of Php 150. Supposedly we were to pay for our lunch which is for Php 280. The next day we had our breakfast served and we were surprised to see na gamay kaayo ang gi serve (as seen on the picture below) so we asked the caretakers nganong gamay ra wherein we paid good for 19. So mao to sige silag explain na “mao ra na ang gi supply sa owner, 1.4 kilos” so we asked okay ra mag pa dugang ug luto. The caretaker didn’t say yes or no so na balaka mi kay 18 mi kabuok and naay di makakaon namo (to think na we should’ve had extra since one of our friends decided to go home early even after paying for overnight) so we asked if we can talk to the owner the ate said “di to paistorbo kay gisapot to gahapon, saputon to” nag lagot ko so I asked them to explain the details of the booking mao to sigeg pakita si ate sa receipt. The caretaker then admitted that they also think na kuwang ang food and that maskin sila mauwaw mu serve sa ilang guests. We had to ration the food just so masigo siya sa amo tanan. They eventually decided to provide extra rice with no charge but we still demanded to complain sa tag iya kay lagi basin mao nasad mahitabo inig lunch. Ang caretakers gi chika chika ra mi so I decided to send an email sa owner to inquire.

      PART 2:

      At around 8AM the owner (female) called my friend who is our contact. She was so furious about the “threatening email” I composed. She then refused to talk to me and just wants to speak to Nigel who is our contact so they spoke for a while. Maldita kaayo siya bes she wont accept feedback from her customers balik balik siya “unsa diay inyo gi expect eat all you can?” The convo ended when she decided to drop by and discuss things over saying “if di ta magkasinabot mag issue mig full refund then manguli mo” we agreed. We faced her hoping to reason out why we were aggravated with the situation. We tried to explain na we were expecting “enough” food for 19 people instead we got less but she kept on insisting that our issue is the “rice” so nag balik balik sad kog pasabot niya na we just wanted to have enough food for 19 people. She stopped the conversation, her verbatim was “I don’t want us to discuss more about this, your lunch will be the same” so my friend asked “so you’ll just leave your customers unsatisfied?” She just responded “because you’re being rude” she started saying na my email was threatening her na we will post in facebook and all (see picture for the email body) the issue was settled with them issuing us prorated refund because we’re not gonna have lunch nalang. They recalculated the charges and to our surprise naay mga discrepancy. The KTV price the caretakers said was for Php 1,200 which turned out to be Php 800 ra diay. The Zipline price they told us was for Php 50 nya Php 100 ang naa sa recibo. On top of all this the owner treated us with such disrespect over talking us and not letting us explain. She was so rude and was not accepting our side and that “call center” employees should know how to check the FAQs and should check all details etc. She kept on saying “we were the first” to complain with their over 1000 bookings for the past 5 years. My friend just posted a negative review and just a couple minutes later her review was deleted this is why I decided to post this on my wall. This was supposed to be a special day for me and my friends its so sad that it turned out like this.

        We went there last 2013 and the service is satisfactory so there could be a lot of changes already. Hope the management can do something about this.
