Sunshine Shin Beach Resort

Summer has come, which means it’s time for team building! Our first choice was Singli Mountain Resort in San Fernando, but we weren’t too impressed with the place. One reason we chose Singli was because of the team’s budget. Another reason was that we have two pregnant members on our team, so traveling to far places wasn’t an option. The team kept looking for another venue, but just in case we couldn’t find one, we had no choice but to stay there.

Good thing my supervisor had attended a reunion at a resort in Danao, Cebu, and said it was a nice place for team building.

I had never heard much about the resort, but when I checked their website, it looked pretty good. There were also some blogs featuring the place, so you can really take the time to check it out online first and see the photos.

How to get there?

From SM, you can either take Vhire or Jeep for 40 pesos or above (not quite sure). You can also take Ceres Bus from North Bus terminal. The resort is just ahead of the port for Camotes so once you pass by it, just look for the sign board with the resort’s name on the left side of the road. Just ask the driver to drop you off there then take a tricycle to the resort.

If you have your personal transportation then it will be better.

The Place

The resort is secluded, and you would never expect such a beautiful place there. On the way to the resort, you pass by a cemetery, but don’t worry as it’s not scary at all. Sunshine Shin Resort isn’t bad despite its unusual name. In fact, the place has a nice ambiance and is perfect for unwinding.

From 1-5 rating, I’ll give this resort a 4.

The Rooms

All of their rooms are good for 2 persons but you can add additional persons with a max of 4-5 persons per room. In every added person, you will just need to pay for 300 pesos with foam already. In our case, we rented 1 Standard and 1 Deluxe with Kitchen room. Below are the prices:

Standard – 1450.00

Deluxe – 2000.00

Deluxe with Kitchen – 2500.00

The Cons

The only thing I didn’t like about the resort was that they had inconsistent ways of dealing with guests. First, we asked for a knife, but they couldn’t provide one because their chef was still using it. BUT when my supervisor went there and asked someone else, they immediately gave it to her.

Second, they were about to charge us 1,000 pesos for using their Japanese Cottage, even though there shouldn’t have been a charge since we had already rented two rooms and only used the cottage for a team meeting. Again, my supervisor talked to them, and they waived the charges.

Below is their Japanese Cottage, which costs 2,000 pesos per day.

The good thing about this resort is that they don’t have a corkage fee unless it’s lechon baboy, in which case you’ll need to pay 500 pesos. In our case, we bought lechon belly and hid it in a box, so we didn’t have to pay any corkage LOL (peace, Sunshine Shin!).

Just for a heads up, don’t expect white sands on North side resorts because there’s none. Maybe in San Remigio but their sands aren’t that white yet there unlike in Bantayan and Malapascua. Anyway, what’s the use of pools right?
