Last 2013, I wasn’t able to visit Magpupungko Rock Pool ’cause of the bad weather and lack of time. But on my second visit to Siargao, I didn’t waste my time and headed to Pilar after we check in to our homestay in General Luna. After almost 2 hours of travel by a tricycle, we reached the enticing Magpupungko Rock Pool in Siargao Island.
Magpupungko Rock Pool in Siargao Island is only visible during low tides. This is also the reason why others call it Magpupungko Tidal Pool. Simply, something Pilar should be proud of.
How To Get There?
Take a habal-habal or trike to Pilar — a two hour drive away from General Luna. You can haggle up to 500 pesos and entrance is 50 pesos each.
As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Others may not find this place imposing but for me, this is a true wonder of nature. Indeed, it’s just a rock pool that shows up every low tide but look at how beautiful it is! You can’t just simply see that kind of beauty in your backyard and no resort can beat this natural pool.
And if ever you are wondering why it’s called Magpupungko, it’s because of these two rocks.
