Before I went to Honda Bay, I stopped by Kalui Restaurant to make a reservation. Yes, a reservation is a must here because many tourists and even locals dine at this place. It’s a native seafood restaurant and, I’d say, one of the most highly recommended. It’s so popular that it’s featured in almost every blog I checked before the trip.
My main plan for the day was Honda Bay island hopping, followed by Iwahig firefly watching, so I booked a 9:00–9:30 PM schedule. Since it’s my first day in Palawan, I wanted to try the best restaurant right away.
Since the Honda Bay island hopping ended at 5:00 PM and the Iwahig firefly watching was canceled that day due to heavy rain, I had to rebook our reservation. Imagine, I initially booked for 9:00–9:30 PM!? I would’ve definitely collapsed from hunger by then. Good thing I was able to reschedule it to 8:30 PM instead. Not bad, though.
So while waiting, I stayed at the inn first to upload some photos on IG (lol) and watch TV.
Long story short, I went to Kalui at 8:00 PM to check if we could already have dinner, and thanks to the old and new gods, the waiter let us in. But before fully letting us in, he asked us to remove our slippers. Hmmmm.

Yeah, they’ll ask you to go barefoot so it feels like you’re just at home – classic! Anyway, I checked their menu and I was wowed by it. From fish steak and prawns to eel and stingray with coconut cream, I was really curious about how everything tastes. But since I’m not really a fan of exotic dishes, we ordered their Kalui Special of the Day to keep things safe and not spoil the night. Let’s stick to the basics, lol. If you want to see more of their menu, you can check it here.

After dinner, I explored the entire restaurant. Everything is made of wood, giving it the feel of a modernized nipa hut. Aside from that, you’ll immediately notice the beautiful craftsmanship displayed throughout.
See the photo above? That’s just one of those artsy-bitsy crafts you can see in Kalui. More photos below.
So that’s it and I call it a day!
