Freediving in Barracuda Lake and Skeleton Shipwreck in Coron

Now comes the fourth day of island hopping in Coron. This isn’t just an ordinary island-hopping trip because today I’ll be freediving in a shipwreck and at Barracuda Lake. *yay*

It’s every freediver’s dream to freedive in Barracuda Lake because, first, you can freedive in any sea or ocean you want, but in a lake? That’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Second, it’s in Coron. That’s it. Lol

I didn’t really plan this island hopping trip because I let my underwater videographer handle everything. However, one thing I regret is not booking a private tour. Yep, this is a joiner’s tour, which means we were on a boat full of unfamiliar faces. It’s not really a problem per se, it’s just not as comfortable compared to our other tours.

Anywaaaaay, we only paid 5,500 pesos for this tour, which includes entrance fees and lunch. 4,000 for hiring my guide and 1,500 for Ron. Not bad, eh?

So this is what our boat looks like.

Our first stop is… CYC Beach again, LOL. We just soaked in the water while the other guests enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling.

Next stop is the Skeleton Shipwreck, where we will also be having our lunch.

After taking our lunch, we went to Twin Lagoon, another great stop for kayaking. However, since we didn’t rent a kayak this time and I wanted to save my energy for freediving in Barracuda Lake later, we just took some photos around the docking area.

And what I have been waiting for has finally come. We were dropped off at Barracuda Lake because they needed to go to Kayangan Lake first, as it is part of the island-hopping itinerary. Ron went with them, but he stayed on the boat to rest. While me?

I really enjoyed this freedive, but it’s just too bad that I didn’t see any barracudas. At least I can tick it off my bucket list. Well, Siquijor has them, but they’re usually around 20 meters deep, and I still can’t dive that deep *boo*
