Islas de Gigantes or Gigantes Island is part of Carles, Iloilo. Little has known about its existence and still remains off the beaten path. The island consists of beautiful scenery with white sand beaches where you can go beach bumming. It is also known as the ‘scallops capital of the Philippines‘ and it taught me that scallops are not deadly when eaten since its my first time to eat scallops here. lol lol lol
I’ve been dying to go to this island since last year and good thing I’ve met people who wanted to do the same thing.
So what are the things that you can do in Gigantes Island? How can we get to the island? Where to stay?
How to Get There? (from Cebu)
You can take a plane or boat bound for Iloilo. For us, we took Cokaliong and traveled for like 13-effin-hours. Once you’re in Iloilo City, take a cab or trike for Jaro Terminal. In Jaro Terminal, you can take a vhire or Ceres bus to Estancia port and travel time will be 2-3 hours. Once you are in Estancia, take the boat for Gigantes Islands that will take 2-3 hours depending on the waves.
(Note: You should be in Estancia port before 1pm since they only have 1 trip per day to the islands and renting a private boat on your own will cost you 5,000 pesos)
Where to Stay?
I recommend Hideaway Resort. Everyone knows the place and they will recommend it to you. Owned by the Tourism Officer Mr. Joel Decano, they will provide most of your needs here. You can contact him at this number +63-918-46-85-006
What to do in the Island?
