After my Siargao adventure, I had to go to Surigao City. Since I had already booked our flight from there to Cebu, I didn’t really have a choice but to leave Siargao. creys
Surigao City is located at the northeasternmost tip of Mindanao Island in the Philippines and is the capital of the province of Surigao del Norte. I really had no idea about Surigao City, and I didn’t even know what to do there. lol

Since they advised me to take the first trip, I woke up before 4 AM and had a 30-minute ride from General Luna to Dapa, where the port is located. They also recommended taking the Dapa Express, their fast craft, so I could reach Surigao in just 2 hours. Why take the first trip? Simply because there are usually big waves in the middle of the sea once you travel after 9 AM. Who wants to get seasick halfway through the trip and be traumatized by the waves? LOL.

Photo below is the Dapa Express. I guess it can carry up to 30-40 people.
I arrived in Surigao City at around 8 am (not bad than taking the 4 hours trip) and dock in their boulevard.
I stayed Surigao Tourist Inn. Their rooms are very affordable and what I got is a 595 worth room and it has aircon and TV already. However, you will be using a common CR. I’m not really into common CRs but I’m so tired already and just want to have some rest.
So let’s check my room.

Too bad Mindanao is having a rotating blackout right now and the hotel, while on brownout, didn’t used their generator. It really sucks big time and that what makes this hotel awful. They also keep on promising that they will be turning the generator already but they didn’t! They just waited for the electricity to come back. I should have stayed in other hotel if I knew this was the case. Pfft!
Anyway, while waiting for the electricity to come back, I roamed around the city and decided to visit Mabua Pebble Beach. This beach is not like an ordinary beach. Why?
Mabua Pebble Beach consists of pebbles instead of sand, which we’re used to seeing on most beaches. Unlike the usual sandy shores, Mabua is covered with smooth, pebble-like stones. They say this has been a phenomenon, as no one can really explain why the stones here are so smooth. Similar to the stones found in rivers, that’s exactly what you’ll see here.

I didn’t stayed long in Mabua Beach because it started to rain again and I’m already hungry as well.
I strolled around the city to check how it looks like.
Now look at their tricycles. One good thing about Surigao City is that all their tricycles doesn’t have any routes. Because the city is so small and just accessible, they don’t need routes unlike in a big city like Cebu. So hassle free.
Then I went back to the hotel to take some rest and have Wi-Fi since the electricity is back! Hooray! Then I went to the market to buy some fish for ‘Sugba‘ and ‘Kilaw‘ before meeting some friends from there.
You can also ask for someone to grill the fishes you just bought for only 20 pesos. Amoizing!

After dinner, me and my friends had some karaoke and bottle of beers then once again I got drunk. lol
On the next day, since the sun is up FINALLY, my friend then invited me to visit Sabang Beach to have some fresh air.
For 100 pesos, you can already stay there whole day and rent their cottage. In our case, we only rented it for a couple of minutes since we still have our flight at 12:30 so we only paid 50 pesos.
Then Fhao accompanied me at the airport.
Thanks Fhao! Til’ next time!
So long Surigao!
