Left my heart in Lanuza, Surigao del Sur

When you think of surfing in the Philippines, you will immediately remember Siargao Island as the surfing capital. Once you hear Surigao, the island comes in your mind straightaway. But let’s forget about it and let’s explore another surfing spot in Surigao, which is located in Sur or in the southern part of Surigao province.

[Note: This will be a long post and more on mushy storytelling. lol]

lanuza, surigao del sure

Me and my boyfriend got addicted to surfing and we get stoked on it as if it’s our first time. Days are better if you are on a surf trip. It’s not all about getting a good picture for you to brag on social medias like Facebook and Instagram. But it’s the feeling of satisfaction when you catch the waves. It is all about meeting new friends and spending the day with no rush. A carte blanche for once in a while.  However, this trip was fun but escalated immediately to despondency and you’ll know about it if you’ll read this entire post.

Surigao City

After our Siargao adventure, we have to go to Surigao City to get my boyfriend’s TOR and visit his friends. And since I booked our flight there for Cebu then we don’t have a choice but to leave Siargao. *creys

The City of Surigao is located at the northeasternmost tip of Mindanao Island in the Philippines and the capital of the province of Surigao del Norte. I really don’t have any idea about Surigao City and I don’t even know what to do there. All I know is, where going to get something from there. lol

Mabua Beach Resort of Surigao

Mabua Pebble Beach is consists of pebbles instead of sands. Unlike the usual sandy beaches, Mabua has big pebble-like smooth stones. This has been a phenomena, as they say, since no one can really explain why they have smooth stones here. Just like stones that can be found in a river, this is what the stones look like here.

Surfing in Siargao Island

The best part of our trip in Siargao is surfing. It’s actually our first time to surf and we are very much excited. We even went home early from Island Hopping because we really wanted to try surfing immediately.

Naked, Daku, and Guyam Islands in Siargao

The island hopping is supposed to be cancelled due to the bad weather. Good thing Kuya Roel followed us (like a stalker haha loljoke) through out the Boardwalk. He then offered to tour us to General Luna specifically to their boulevard. However, as we arrived there and saw the clear sky, we then decided to resume to our plan.

The famous Boardwalk, Cloud9 of Siargao Island

One of the known surfing spots in the Philippines is Cloud 9. Big surfing competition events are also held here. As what Kuya Roel (our tour guide for the day) said, them as locals doesn’t care about the waves at first. Until foreigners went to visit the place and discovered that it was one of the best spot for surfing. And so it began.
