1st Full Moon Hammock Summit at Mt. Bandilaan, San Fernando

Last weekend, Go San Fernando together with Driftwood Local Ent. (DWLE) held the 1st Full Moon Hammock Summit at Mt. Bandilaan, San Fernando. Everyone’s excited to explore the unspoiled natural wonder of this municipality in Cebu and to meet new friends and share the experience with other participants. Aside from that, Neil’s coming with us this time and I miss doing adventures with him together with our Oponside friends.

But before I share our experiences during the event, let’s talk about San Fernando. It is located in the Southern part of Cebu in between Naga and Carcar. Hidden Paradise and Singli Mountain Resort can be found here and they’re best known as team building destinations. But, do you know that there are hidden waterfalls in the heart of the mountains of San Fernando? Did you also know that you can surf in Baybayon, San Fernando? Those are just one of the many things that you can do here. In just one place!

Indeed, San Fernando has been blessed by these gems of nature and that is why they made this event — 1st Full Moon Hammock Summit.

It was a drizzly afternoon when me and Neil arrived in San Fernando but excitement still surged through us. We left at 4 o’clock in the afternoon and drove over steep inclines. After an hour or two, we arrived at the drop off and start trekking to the first stop — where hammock set up competition will be done.

Others left their things especially those who will be staying overnight in the first stop. While us who’ll be camping in Mt. Bandilaan brought everything with us. Rain is on and off and it was already dark when we continued to trek for Bandilaan Peak. When we finally reached the peak, it was even fogging and we can’t see anything in the view. Minutes after setting up the tents, the surrounding cleared up and saw the awesome view from the peak.

Everyone then started to chat, drink, set up their improvised lights and just simply enjoyed the night.

We then started with the fire painting. To those who have no idea what’s this, it’s a way of creating art from glass and soot. You can google for it too. *wink

After more chatting and drinking, it started to rain very very very hard. Good thing I’m drunk enough and I was able to sleep drenched with the rain that got inside our tent and didn’t hear the scary thunderstorm. lol.

Morning after, this view greeted us.

Look at the gloomy weather! Isn’t it so fascinating?

We had our light breakfast then hike down at 7 or 8 in the morning I guess.

We arrived in our first stop and had light breakfast again before starting with our activities — the socials and tree planting. I’m a little bit of tired ’cause of hangover and need some power nap so I wasn’t able to participate in it.

When I woke up, it’s already tree planting time — which is actually my favorite part ’cause it’s my first time to plant a coconut tree. lol.

And tsedeeeeeeeen!!! My very own planted coconut tree. (Neil and Me actually planted 3 of it.)

Then had more socials afterwards before we leave for Poblacion.

It was a fun experience to explore the place with old and new friends. Despite of the bad weather, the event was still a success! We’ll certainly go back here in next year’s event and will explore more of it’s hidden natural beauty. #GoSanFernando

And by the way, before I forgot. I actually though that I’ve no luck with raffles. But I actually won this bag. lol! THANK YOU DRIFTWOOD!
